Hello friends, how are you? It's been a while since I logged in, but you always go back to the places that make you happy.
This time I come to tell you about a new event/movement/fashion that is emerging in my city (somewhere in Mexico :P), recently I went downtown as usual to look at the different balloon stores for a new brand that I like to take home and have fun.
(For some strange reason), in my city the balloon shops are concentrated in the downtown, so I find it easy and entertaining to go and look from time to time.
Well, after going through about 8 different stores I could notice an interesting trend, Chinese brands are literally invading the balloon market, from desert, glass and standard colors, to the size range from 5-36 inches. , the most notable being the 18-inch balloons.
I could see approximately 4-5 different brands, some with very obvious Chinese names, such as "Tongxuan" or "Feng" or "Quiao".
Some others with more common names, "Party balloons" or "Globtex", to mention a few.
But absolutely all mentioned in small letters the famous Made in China.
I couldn't help but buy some balloons and somehow risk my money on defective or very poor quality balloons, so I took some of the Globtex brand.
As it turns out, I was pleasantly surprised, the balloons (marked as size 18 inches), turned out to be larger than average, I could say between 21-23 inches, and although clearly the latex was not very thick or very hard, it felt better than expected, managing to hold enough pressure to inflate it with the neck (which wasn't too long to compete with a Tuftex or Kalisan).
Personally, I believe that Chinese balloons are improving a lot in terms of the quality they offer, but they definitely have a way to go, however, I fully trust that they can become a great alternative for Looners, especially in a world where classic brands seem to be removing our beloved cult classics.
