Re: Is Helium Balloons harmful?
Helium is NOT flammable and is a noble gas. It is not toxic but will not support life. It can displace oxygen and you could be asphyxiated if you breath too much in... but breathing in a little bit is generally OK will make your voice sounds like Donald Duck. Disney sells helium balloons to kids all the time and has done so for many years. It will not harm children.
On the environmental side of things helium balloons can and has hurt wildlife. Not from the helium but the popped bit that fall back to earth if the balloons gets released into the air. Balloons in general is not good for the earth.Last edited by SAF; 12-12-2019, 15:32.Comment

Re: Is Helium Balloons harmful?
Yeah, true, dunno why I had it in my head it was flammable. I just remembered seeing a video where some balloons got near to a candle and exploded into flame. I suppose they must’ve been filled with hydrogen instead. How big will it go? Only one way to find out...

Re: Is Helium Balloons harmful?
For what it's worth, please don't allow people to inhale helium, especially kids. Yes, it seems funny to change the pitch of your voice, but as has been pointed out, you're depriving your body of oxygen, and in kids, it can make them unconcious quite quickly, due to their smaller physical size.Comment
