I was playing FFVII Rebirth and got to "The Hardest Sell" Side mission. Seeing all the balloons that Kyrie put up got me thinking about times balloons have been used in other games. What are some games you've played/seen that had balloons? Also, on side note the game is fantastic. I love it so far

I remember a room towards the end of Resident Evil 7 filled with balloons. I think you could pop them with a lighter. -
There’s a minigame from Mario Party (I forget which one it’s from but I’m pretty sure it’s in the top 100). I forget the name of the minigame, but the premise is that there’s a giant balloon connected to a tube, and everyone takes turn blowing into the balloon at least once. If it pops on your turn, you lose, and it keeps going until there’s one person left. I love it when Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina are playing the minigame, just the thought of their air filling such a massive balloon 🥰. There’s also another one from Mario Party 3 called bounce and trounce where you’re on a ball and you have to bounce and spin to knock other people off the stage. I feel like that one doesn’t really interest me anymore, but it used to at least (:Comment

Animal Crossing; New Horizons has balloons that you pop to get various items as they float overhead. You can also buy balloons on a strings that you can place all over your island, helium balloons that never pop, always float, and never get dull. There are also at least two kinds of balloons you can craft (if you're not familiar, crafting items is a feature of the game): bunny day balloons (in two varieties) and glowing moss balloons.Comment

I can go on with balloons in video games and characters inflating like balloons, but I'll keep this short with a game that released several months ago. Super mario bros. Wonder has a fish-themed balloon enemy/obstacle called a bloomp that will push into you to knock you off the level. They can appear from the sides or beneath the level and will also appear from cannons that will inflate them on the spot before shooting them out. There's also a wonder effect from the Wonder flowers in which your chosen character will transform into a balloon (Similar to grabbing a P-balloon in the few of the mario games) where you'll bounce around and float upwards.Comment

That Minigame is called "Balloon Busters" and it's originally from mario party 7. Top 100's take on the minigame has it where the one who's inflating the balloon loses. The version from Mario party 7 has one character behind a small barrier, where if the balloon pops, the characters not behind the barrier are blown away. Another notable difference is that it's a minigame that utilizes the microphone, so you have to say "Bigger" for you to inflate the balloon and "Stop" to pass your turn onto someone else. A big favorite of mine as well next to my other favorite "Balloon Burst." where you and one other person pumps to inflate a giant bowser balloon until it pops.

World of Warcraft had a couple different balloons in game that could be collected and brought out. One was considered a pet and the other a toy, so you could run around with 2 balloons. You could "feed" the pet balloon a biscuit that made it grow bigger.
CS:GO and now CS:2 have one of the levels with a park area with picnic benches with a single balloon over each that can be popped.

Terraria has loads of balloon stuff. You can carry around a helium balloon and dye it different colours. There's a party girl npc that sells them. You can get them as decoration too. I like exploring and building my town while carrying around a balloon.
I wish sun haven had them. That's one of my favourite games. It would make sense if you could buy or win them at the fairground.Comment

I have been playing Honkai Star Rail recently. The gameplay for the current planet mostly takes place in a dream realm where there are LOTS of big balloons all around. The breakable objects are even big funny looking animal balloons. There is a logbook sticker of the regular environmental balloons and the description says they dont pop not matter how hard you poke them. Aside from all the bad things going on their it would be pretty cool to go there and see how unpoppable magic dream balloons feel.Comment

Let's see, you have super Mario sunshine where the roller coaster level is dedicated to popping multiple Bowser balloons with a rocket.
If I remember correctly in dead space 2 there is a section where you visit the children's ward. Lots of balloons there but a waste of ammo hahaha.
Someone already mentioned resident evil 7's balloon room.
Mario Party 1 had a game dedicated to inflating a giant Bowser balloon that once popped everyone's pops.
Super Mario Odyssey has a multiplayer game dedicated to finding another players balloon.
Garry's Mod has a tool in the game where you can place balloons all over each with different lifting forces and designs.
Obviously balloon fight.
I also remember a flash game where you played a balloon on a Segway and you have to traverse platforms of spikes.
Yakuza 0 has telephone cards that unlock different softcore porn videos. Many of them featuring balloons.
I'm sure there are lots more. JRPG's are a gold mine for balloons.Comment

Back in the day (probably about 30 years ago), I was obsessed with Doom and had an editor for it where you could create your own levels and change all the graphics. I remember once redesigning the exploding barrel as a balloon and building a level full of them. My digital drawing skils left a lot to be desired and it didn't look great though!

Going to throw in the obvious and mention the Bloons Tower Defense series, which is about you setting up defenses to stop an (evil!) horde of balloons (well, "bloons") from making it through. Every game of BTD6 features thousands if not millions of pops.Comment

The resident evil room was very creepy to be fair. So was the dead space 2 one someone mentioned. I may be confusing dead space it with another game, but I seem to remember walking in to the childrens ward and there was a bunch of 3/4 big helium balloons on the reception desk. Then one (or more) of them randomly popped as you moved further. Creepy lighting and distorted nursery rhymes playing. Scared the shit out of me! Once over the initial shock, I did waste a lot of ammo on the others......
And how did I not think of Bloons TD? I play it most days🤣Comment
