I tried a new technique for popping a balloon quite a few years ago. In this one, the bigger the balloon, the more hilarious it gets!!
As you get yourself ready to sit cross-legged on the floor or a bed, take a good-sized balloon (14" to 24") and wrap your legs and feet around it (assuming a cross-legged position). Squeeze the balloon in that position until it pops! If you still can't pop it, add a bounce to it -- that should do it!
I had to add the bounce to pop mine years ago. Try it -- it's fun!!!
