Re: Can you blow to pop inflatables?
I found out by accident that inflatables do pop with a bang! I initially thought that inflatables would just spring a leak and start hissing air slowly.
When I was 5, I had a blue 20inch Care Bears swimmm ring, which my parents pumped up, but was still quite soft and wrinkly, so I remember trying to blow more breaths into it every so often. It must have become overinflated, because it started leaking air, and I got into a lot of trouble.
Later on, when I was 14, I was blowing up a swim ring and I wanted it nice and tight so it supports the user better. I was blowing and just about to take the valve out of my mouth, when the swim ring exploded violently. it was a big shock. The inner seam had ripped open.
So from then on, I realised that inflatables can explode loudly too.
Since then, I've had 3 more explosions. One was a 24in beachball, and the others were 20in Intex swim rings. All burst while being mouth inflated. I guess I blew them up too big.
