Does anyone have a good idea of the color assortments at Disney Parks over the last 30 years? I can’t find any good pictures of any Disney LAND California ones in the 90s except a few here and there in people’s YouTube videos from 1993-94. Here’s what I’ve come up with.
DISNEYLAND:
1950s to about 1963-Round agate, Mickeys with black ears. (I LOVE how they recreated these for Saving Mister Banks!)
70s just generic colors but with a cool print
1984-89? Red, yellow, light blue, dark blue, pink. All black ink.
1989-91?-Same assortment just white ink on the dark blue. Also, some have a 35th anniversary Castle print. My favorite assortment!
1992 and on … same assortment except now with Goldenrod and lilac? Also, print changes back to the Disneyland print. Glasshouse was apparently there as early as 1999. And I guess around the early 2000s, they changed the ink color on the now Ruby red ones, despite Pink and Light blue still having black ink in 2009. The early glasshouses didn’t look very good. Head seemed way too big. In 1995 they had Donald Duck shaped Mylars.
WALT DISNEY WORLD:
70s there was definitely dark green and orange. Same with Disneyland.
80s, all the standard red yellow dark/light blue, pink. Black ink. With orange here and there? Mylar first appeared in 1988.
Around 1990ish, the ink changed to White ink. They were definitely white inked in 1991.
1993-2010, the White inked Jewel assorted with Light blue and pink. Retro WDW logo print used until 1996. Mylar with Mickey AND Minnie on either side appears in 1993.
2010, light blue disappears, white one with the LED light is added, as are Orange during Halloween.
2014, Citrine yellow changes to Standard yellow.
2019-20, Periwinkle, goldenrod, lilac added. I also swear I saw a 16 inch white round that’s in a deco bubble. And a Fashion agate in 2022!
I hope to have a discussion about this and if any of my facts are wrong or slightly off. I wish Magic Kingdom in Orlando would use black and white ink! I love black ink on yellow.
