    Beach ball durability

Just wondering how many uses other people get out of a beach Ball. I mostly have the 42 inch ones from local stores like Walmart. And they last probably 5-8 times before getting a hole

Dunno really some of mine have lasted a couple of years, others have burst fairly quick within their first or after a couple of uses.

I've rarely had them defective but it's happened in the past, and some surprise me and hold together even way too tight but I've never had one last year's!

I’ve still got a couple of Intex Jumbo Balls I bought back in 1994 going strong!

Intex have always made better stuff quality wise, but vinyl back then certainly was more stretchy and soft than a lot of today’s vinyls. Problem was the plasticisers used to make vinyl flexible back then weren’t exactly good for you. Today’s vinyls are somewhat harder, or less flexible (just my opinion) but stuff welded today does tend to fail quicker than the older stuff. Whether that’s down to the process used to make pvc, or just inadequate HF welding I’m not sure.

It's an odd one... randomly some beach balls seem to last about one or two times inflated. Older toys certainly seem better quality; I still have a couple of the Intex 'Rainbow Stripe' 48's from the late 90's which have survived much use and abuse. I had a "30 red/yellow/blue beach ball bought from a cheapie seaside shop in St.Ives which lasted from about 1999 until a couple of years ago, various uses and abuses and much inflating and deflating.

By contrast some modern beachballs I've bought have been so badly made they leak right away, though I will say the 'Jumbo' beachballs sold by Poundland tend to be surprising durable, very flexible and naturally heat stretch.
