I just use a small pair of curved forceps.

I just usually push the valve in, then grab the flap through the vinyl and pull it off then push it out through the valve - never had a problem doing it like this.

The way heath dragon does it is the most effective way that I've tried, but does take some elbow grease. I also make sure to keep hold of the flap once it does detach, and then press it back into the valve and pull it out with tweezers.

Over time I just started leaving it in after I pulled it off, kinda funny later on I might find one every now and then in the carpet from where one had popped and the cap was never thought about

              I have no skills.

What I usually do is use a pair of needle-nose pliers to pull the flap through the valve and then use a sharp knife to cut it out.

The pliers would usually lose grip if I try to pull the flap out, gotta pad the tips of the clip with rubber

That's why you need a pair of curved nosed locking forceps to grab the valves flap before you lock them tightly on and then twist a few times till the flap gets torn away.

The Heath Dragon's way is good in my case. Just sit and focus on it.
