    Looner text adventure idea

Anyone ever played one of those text adventure games where your choices effect the ending? I'm thinking of making a looner version. You would choose who you want to play as at the start and get given choices throughout the game. Some would be simple choices that don't effect the conclusion, such as whether you choose to pop a certain balloon or not and some would completely change the way the story progresses.

Anyone think this would be a good idea? I've made them before so know what I'm doing. There's two versions; a simple multiple choice version and an advanced, much more complex version where you type commands to interact with your surroundings. I'd probably do the first.

Gonna start work on it right away. You can add pictures and sound as well. Definitely want to include sound effects such as blowing and popping. If anyone wants to help with the audio/image part of it, that would save me a lot of time. Let me know if you can help.
Would need cover art and perhaps graphics for the characters as well.

I've actually played around with this idea for almost a year now, but never had the motivation to start working on it. Used to love these as a kid (I have a fair few of the Goosebumps books that were written like this) and a looner story with choices could be really interesting.

I was actually thinking of this a while ago. I can do some writing/editing and code to make it interactive or game-like, PM me if you're interested.

Already got a good engine for it. Can easily add sounds, photos and even video.
Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know if I need any help.

Having it interactive sounds like a lot of fun

Halfway through the first character. (There's gonna be a few characters with different stories of course) I'm going to need a few different sound effects to add to the immersion. I'm away at the moment so can't record anything for a while. I'll add a list of sounds I still need. If you're able to help record one (or more) sounds, pm me. I'll be grateful for any help. I'll probably be able to do most myself but it'll be done faster with help.

                Sounds I need:
                Popping (got a few already)
A few various squeaks and creeks
Inflation sounds (one breath would do. Ideally one male and one female)
A soft sigh (I can do male so only female needed
Perhaps a giggle or squeal, don't know how many sounds I'll end up using.
I'll be able to do inflatable sounds but let me know if you've got anything special.

I don't know if only one breath sample would do, I think you'll find that the sound of inflation changes a lot as the balloon inflates. You might think it'll be close enough, but it's probably going to sound weird in practice.

It's only really going to be a small thing. You'll select an option and on certain pages you'll get a sound effects. For example the story could say something like "the balloon is almost full, what do you do next" if you click continue blowing, you'll get a brief sound of someone blowing a breath in. When it pops, you'll hear a bang.

Most of it is going to be like an ordinary story with choices rather than a real time interaction.

Sounds good, only thing I'll recommend is that the sample comes from blowing into a balloon that's already quite full, since the pitch change over the course of a breath later on will be much smaller than the pitch change at first when the balloon increases significantly in size with each breath.

Yeah, I'll have three sounds: one on the first breath, another later on when if you choose to keep blowing (it'll be struggling with a very tight balloon) and when it pops.

Quest 2. It's a free online engine. Easy to use but you can use scripting as well.

Hmm, I haven't heard of that one and can't find it on Google.
