    Tricky shaped loons.....

Another failed attempt at inflating a Cattex Doll. Did all the pre stretching where it narrows, but still the main body filled out first leaving the bulb at the end un stretchable now.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to correct this now I’ve stretched n thinned the main part of the balloon or is it now doomed to fail?

That is a bummer, but you may be able to save the balloon.

As 815balloon and Jan from balloons-united point out, you need to first stretch the head. To do that, you will have to fight the tendency of the doll to inflate the main body first. You either need a strong grip on the lower section as you inflate the top or lay on the bottom to keep it from inflating first (the latter may be more fun). You may want to try multiple inflations of the top to stretch it out before going for a full body inflation.

If that works, the top may still deflate as the bottom inflates (physics at work here: smaller volume = higher pressure, so the air wants to move to the larger section). You need to keep pressure on the bottom to keep air in the top as you continue to inflate.

Even if these efforts fail, the battle to keep air in the top can be enjoyable (LOL). Cattex makes good balloons that can survive multiple inflations (us nonpoppers enjoy that).

Otherwise, purchase a new doll balloon and follow the tutorial instructions. On all shaped balloons, inflate the smallest sections first. It always works for me.

Yeah Try to inflate just the head the same amount of times as the body then deflate and start to inflate head first then once the pressure in the head has reached is max it should start to inflate the body. Another technique (it might be risky) is to leave the body inflated and clip it like in your photo but sit on the body which should force the air into the head. Bouncing on the body will also stretch the head and will make it more likely to stay inflated.

        Hi,
They are easy enough to do, just use some big hands to keep the wider part from inflating untill the narrower section has inflated big and tight then let go on the wide section.

If you are not experianced then they are easier on a manual pump or by mouth.
