Re: How to Inflate GL1200

No problem! GLs are very nice balloons, well worth learning to blow them up properly so you can get the most out of them and avoid accidental pops (which can be expensive)

Re: Group order of SA24s/SA36s from manufacturer - survey

I never heard back unfortunately. I'm still interested in this for the future, but for now I've shelved it since I'm not in a position to coordinate this right now. If someone else would like to take...

Re: Liquid latex

I've seen this guide (http://www.rutherford-robotics.com/balloon/), and while it seems reputable, I haven't tried it myself. If you do try it, let us know how it goes; I've been somewhat curious...

Re: Cattex 55 shrinkage after use....

Heat does have an effect on latex. Low heat will cause the latex to shrink back to its original form, and high temperatures will also weaken the bonds making the balloon stretchier. You can use an...

Re: How to Inflate GL1200

Yes, Cattex and Rifco brand balloons tend to stretch very well, so reinflating them a couple times to stretch them out a bit will help.

Re: Some confusion regarding phthalates?

My interpretation is that they're saying that over time, the material will lose its stretchiness, regardless of what type of plasticizer is used.

Re: Is it possible to print on balloons at home?

As an alternative, it's very easy to create stencils and then trace them onto partially inflated balloons with sharpies. Cutting them out of paper takes a bit of patience but works well enough; if...

Re: Is it possible to print on balloons at home?

Why is ordering out of the question? Looner sites like Balloons United (https://www.balloons-united.com/) do custom prints.

Re: Will a GL1200 Support My Weight

A GL1200 will easily support your weight, even slightly overinflated. They're really tough balloons.

Re: How to Inflate GL1200

When you say "from the nipple to the nozzle", do you mean you inflated it until even the neck was full? If so, it makes sense that it popped - the neck typically only inflates once the rest of the...

Re: How do I make balloons old and wrinkley fast

Do you want them to be visibly wrinkly, or do you just want the softness/stretchiness of old wrinkly balloons? If you just want the stretchiness, you can try heat stretching them. If you want them to...

Re: Heat stretching Latex

I use ziploc bags, that way I can keep the balloons intact and dry while also drying clothes.

Re: How to Inflate GL1200

I've blown up GL1200s by mouth many times. It's not too difficult, it just takes a while - I can blow one up to rated size in about 15 minutes if I focus on it.

Re: Heat stretching Latex

There are two main ways that I've used:

1. Baking them in the oven. Works best for new (never inflated) balloons - put them in for 5-15 minutes at 290F, then blow them up while they're still...

Re: Untimely pop

There's always unexpected pops. My last SA-24 popped while I was playing with it, although I knew I was pushing it by overinflating it.

Re: What is the biggest amount of helium ballloons you have played with ?

Hmm... Kind of curious how a Cattex 32" longneck would go, especially if pre-stretched a bit so that the neck fills first.

Re: Go on confess- What's the most futile thing you've attempted with a baloon?

Solution: Only blow them up by mouth. Much harder to read a text while still blowing it up.

Re: Old balloons

Try heat stretching balloons, it produces a somewhat similar effect, making them much softer and stretchier. You can put them in the dryer on high heat for 15-30 minutes (use the lower end of the...

Re: Tuftex 17"

They can overinflate to 20" or more if you're careful, but how much they can take when you're bouncing on them depends on your weight and how vigorous you are

Re: Removing beachball valve flaps

The way heath dragon does it is the most effective way that I've tried, but does take some elbow grease. I also make sure to keep hold of the flap once it does detach, and then press it back into the...

Re: Tuftex 17"

The degradation can be slowed significantly if you keep them in an air-tight container in a closet or something, where they're not in sunlight and the temperature is consistent. I have several TT36s...

Re: Contest! There she blows...

My back of the hand math says 306, but since this is a looner forum, I'm going to assume that we have more practice with large breaths and go with 275.

Re: Favorite B2P balloon??

I usually prefer Amscan balloons for popping in general. They're cheap (compared to cattex/tuftex/qualatex/etc), available in local party stores, and are strong enough that it's a fun challenge...

Re: Balloons vs Infatables

I usually prefer balloons, but adding ATBC to an inflatable can make them stretchy and bouncy like balloons, while still being a very different experience (different texture, smell, reactions, etc)
