    Toughness vs Colour

I've noticed this most prominently with a big bag of Qualatex 16" balloons i bought from balloons-united.
The reds and blues tended to be very tough and firm, also felt like they would pop if i blew them up too big.
Conversely the oranges and purples were very very soft and pliable and felt like they would inflate forever.

Anyone else noticed a difference between colour and toughness of balloons?

Yes, especially with 16" Uniques I usually buy. I've noticed that the crystal yellows and regular red and teal gets a lot bigger before feeling fully inflated. The yellow balloons easily gets way past their rated size. I had one inflated to around 19" the other day and it still took a beating without popping.

I do not know if this has to be tied to the color, or if it is just the exact batch of loons, but I noticed different strength of different colors within a pack of crystal jewel qualatex 11" loons. The yellow ones with the clear ones to be the toughest, followed by purple and reds, while blue and green being the least tough.

The toughest balloons i have used is the ones made from clear latex
The clear balloons also smell better

I've noticed that as well. I like the 12" or 19" qualtex crystal clear ones, and they never pop unless you want them to. Sometimes they're pretty hard to pop even if you want them to.

I've noticed that metallic colours seem to inflate smaller than regular colours and are less squishy/more brittle. Also qualatex agate balloons are VERY tough compared to regular colours of the same size.

Clear is the strongest, any color weakens the balloon to some degree, some more than others.

It's actually not uncommon for Clear and Jewel Tone balloons to be be stronger and stretchier than their standard counterparts.

Hence exactly why I prefer these against the pastel ones.

I should also try the agate ones, I adore really tough balloons.

I'm led to believe having read posts on this forum that Tuftex, Qualatex & Belbal are well made & strong balloons. With Halloween coming up I went to find balloons for decoration. To my joy & delight the party shop I went to were selling packets of 50 B105 (12"?) Belbal balloons. I purchased a bag of orange & a bag of black. Not having tried Bellbal before I thought I would try some out before the day. Having put a few away for decorating day I dived in and started blowing few of them up. Not a flaw, church window or hole in any of them. This enabled me to blow them bigger than I'm usually comfortable with in fact the standard blacks went to the 12" dia plus a neck of 2" length. I stopped at that as I'm not into popping much. The metallic orange grew an extremely long neck with the bulb part extremely tight but only just over 10" I stopped blowing. Yes Belbal are a good make & tough but gave an ear deafening 'bang' with the couple I did pin pop. So thread title Toughness & Colour - Orange & Black Belbals are a good try.

Yes, Belbal is definitely very good, bet there often small bubbles in the latex in a lot of the balloons near the drip point.
So far Qualatex has the most flawless loons without any defects.

Personally I would not agree Tuftex are very good. A lot of defects, thin synthetic latex, inflates to only small pressure (very pliable soft balloons) and the rubber degrades VERY quickly. I do not like these. I'd say Tuftex is one of the favorite brands and choices for many, but really not comparable in quality to Belbal and Qualatex.
